HTC working on a mid-range version of the HTC One (M8)

The Mobile World Congress is getting closer and closer, and it is the event where HTC will reveal their new flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9. But according to new reports, it might not be the only phone HTC is planning to showdown. It has been said that HTC is working on a mid-range version of the M8  which will be known as the M8i.

The rumored smartphone is said to feature a Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) chip with two sets of four Cortex-A53 cores, one running at 1.7GHz and the other at 1.0GHz , 5-inch display screen, 2GB DDR4 RAM, 3 megapixel camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, dual LED flash, microSD card slot, BoomSound speakers, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, and NFC connectivity. The smartphone will be available in colors like silver, gray and gold; just like the flagship smartphone. Also it will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop and HTC Sense 7.0 right out of the box.

However, the company has all intentions to release the One M9 on March 1, but so far we haven’t heard about M8i, but it seems like the purpose behind launching it is introducing a smartphone with a more affordable price tag. As HTC has a fierce competition with other smartphone vendors, they have to offer such options to keep their sales alive and their customers happy. HTC is planning to make it available in Asian region, China most importantly and also Europe.

We will see the One M8i at the event next month, and hopefully we will learn even more about the new mid-range smartphone. HTC is working hard to keep their empire safe, and so far both the HTC One M7 and M8 were capable enough to bring back HTC’s lost respect. I believe that HTC One M9 will not fail to impress as well, and the M8i will be for those who are tight on budget, but want to get the first class treatment.

Do you think HTC’s event will be a hit?
