It's not Donald Trump, who she slammed earlier this year when he tried to claim Rousey was a fan of his.
UFC champion and superstar Ronda Rousey has unveiled her pick for the White House — it’s Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, because she said she’s sick of corporate corruption.
In an interview with Maxim Magazine, she said she would endorse Sanders because she believes he will actually stand up against large corporations.
Sanders recently famously rejected the donation of a drug CEO who has earned international scorn for heavily increasing the price of a necessary drug. Rousey said in the interview that she appreciates his stances against corporate influences, something she said appears to infect most other campaigns.
Should Sanders lose, Rousey won’t be throwing her support behind the Democratic frontrunner. Instead, she’ll probably go with a third-party candidate, as she did in 2012 when she voted for actress Rosanne Barr, who ran under a third party ticket.
She’s hopeful that Sanders can win a nomination from one of the two major parties, thus giving him a realistic shot at the White House.
Rousey was involved in a public relations dust-up with Donald Trump when Trump tried to claim that Rousey was a fan of his. However, Rousey slammed him as little more than a reality TV star that she would never want running the country.
There’s been no comment from Sanders yet, but he has enjoyed a groundswell of public support both at the grassroots level and from a wave of celebrity endorsements. So far he has proved to be a worthy opponent to presumed frontrunner Hillary Clinton, and the overall lack of competition for the Democratic nomination outside him and Clinton has helped his bid.
