Selena Gomez has learned to accept the gossip surrounding her life and acknowledges that most of it is based on mere assumptions.
The 24-year-old artist, who was previously dating Justin Bieber, believes a lot of people’s opinions are largely inaccurate but accepts there is nothing she can do to remedy the situation.
She told Vogue magazine: “Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume…I figured it’s just temporary. I feel like that fortunately and unfortunately it’s where my life is at the moment and I have to accept it.”
Despite the occasional frustration in the public eye, the Same Old Love hitmaker is happy about her latest album, Revival, as she feels it’s very authentic and relatable to her own personality.
“I think it was just a step in the right direction, and I’m so proud of it. When it comes to music, all I wanted to do was make sure I was being authentic and being myself, and I took that chance with this album,” she shared.
However, the singer would also like to reassess some areas about her life as a means of staying fresh.
Following a gig in Indonesia in July, Gomez took to Instagram to express how she feels as of late.
The caption read: “Tonight I felt extremely unauthentic, unconnected to both my myself and my music. I’ve never really felt like my materials, wardrobe or a video could define me. I act on a moment and fear something that hasn’t happened.
I’m stagnant, I stay still and don’t just sit with myself first and ask, ‘Is this where I am, whole heartedly?’ I’ve always told the truth. I’m always true to my word, I’ve shown who I am but I need to rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally. Had to get that out.”
