‘The Good Wife’ Chris Noth moves to FX’s ‘Tyrant’

CBS’ The Good Wife is set to end later this year, but star Chris Noth has already found a new home in the FX drama Tyrant. The actor is currently filming the CBS hit’s final season, which started back in 2009 to high ratings and subsequent critical acclaim.

Noth will play the role of William Cogswell, an American general recently transferred out of Abbudin who then returns when Bassam Al-Fayeed (played by Adam Rayner) takes on the role of provisional presidency. Despite offering American support, General Cogswell will gradually rise to power while a long-established romantic link with Leila (portrayed by Moran Atias) rekindles.

This marks a drastic departure from his role on the CBS drama, where he has starred as Peter Florrick for seven seasons, eventually earning him a Golden Globe nomination. Other notable credits include Law & Order, Sex and the City, and Hill Street Blues in the 1980s.

Noth is simultaneously working on other prominent projects, including two independent films; White Girl, which Netflix purchased at Sundance, and Chronically Metropolitan.

Tyrant is produced and managed by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. Howard Gordon, best known for his work on Homeland, executive produces the show along with Chris Keyser, Avi Nir, and Gideon Raff.

The series’ upcoming third season, set to feature 10 episodes, does not yet have an exact air date. Despite not being FX’ highest-rated show, the network is confident about series thanks to its supportive, loyal fans and the effort executive producers have shown.

Meanwhile, The Good Wife series finale airs on Sunday, May 8.
