Facebook adds 360 video to features

Facebook is getting another facelift in the form of a new camera feature that is growing in popularity across the globe.

Now Facebook users on the web and Android will have access to a 360 degree video with support from iOS coming in the following months, according to Reuters.

Since its inception Facebook has built a devoted member base on the simple concept of information sharing. Whether it’s an engagement or family reunion, individuals have flocked to the site in an effort to catalog their life.

The social media titan, which also owns behemoth Instagram, now boasts a network of one billion people with the average user creating 90 new pieces of content each month.

Following the announcement users began to see 360 videos being uploaded from a variety of sources. Vice Media, the popular news source, released video of on-the-ground reporting in Afghanistan.

Joining in the fun, cameramaker GoPro released a motocross video of the Idaho dessert and Lebron James also uploaded his own 360 video with a rare behind the scenes look at his pre-game workouts.

In preparation for the upcoming Star Wars movie, Walt Disney Co are also taking advantage of the new technology, allowing viewers to explore fictional planets featured in the popular sci-fi series.

Starting today Facebook users on web and mobile can now upload their own 360 degree videos.
