More Earth-Like Planets Spotted by Astronomers

On January 6, 2014, astronomers made an announcement that eight different and new planets have been discovered orbiting around the stars and having compatibility with liquid water.

The new finding brings the list of habitable planets that are termed as “Goldilocks” to a count of more than dozen.

A report on NYTimes mentioned that the Kepler spacecraft from NASA, which is in the fifth year of its search, has found hundreds of planets and the many of these new worlds resemble earth.

With more planets being found, astronomers and scientists are now looking to find the next steps that will determine the tools needed to learn about these planets and end the cosmic loneliness.

The planets that were talked about on Janurary 6 were founded by a group from Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, headed by Guillermo Torres.

This comes shortly after another group had claimed that they have managed to weight other small planets already found and concluded the densities to be same as earth.

On Monday, an assembly of astronomers mentioned about their findings where they had administered to weigh specifically a set of miniature planets and found out about their densities as well as the compositions which almost precisely matched those of Earth.

The new findings were announced in Seattle at a conference of the American Astronomical Society.

However, in a sad way the scientists that the planets found, including the new ones are too far away and therefore detailed study. They also said that it is unlikely that more will be learned about this planets in days to come, given the distance.
