England literally started off great with a an amazing stand coming from Joe Root and Jos Buttler, taking them ahead to a lead of 85, especially at a point when they were 170 at the loss of six wickets, at the advantage of just 18.

For India, the morning session went off well with both Varun Aaron and Bhuvneshwar Kumar visibly taking the conditions to their side.

With Moeen Ali’s wicket taken by Aaron, India actually seemed to be at a good place, until both Root and Buttler stole the thunder to add 67 in 18 overs.

The rains whitewashed the action to some extent, keeping the outfield in a bad condition.

Concerns lie on how the rest of the match would shape up, owing to further downpours that are expected.

Buttler seemed to be in the best of his form, despite R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja getting the spin in place.

India did miss on a few fielding options, but the bowlers kept the day going.
