Sylvester Stallone just celebrated his 70th birthday

Sylvester Stallone celebrated his 70th birthday next to some of the most popular faces in the entertainment industry, including Prince Albert and Ricky Martin.

The birthday bash, attended by 88 guests, was primarily organized by friends Victoria and Isaac Oberfeld at La Trattoria restaurant on Wednesday. Stallone, who was accompanied by his family, admitted his shock by the event.

He said to the Nice Matin newspaper: “I’m here at the invitation of my friend Victoria. It’s a surprise for me, I didn’t expect such an evening. I thought for my 70th birthday she would have offered me a hamburger and fries. It made me really happy to see these people, especially Prince Albert.”

Albert gave the Creed actor a black & white, signed photograph of his mother, Princess Grace.

The iconic Rambo star shows no signs of slowing down despite turning 70, as he is rumored to play a mafia boss in an upcoming TV series. Stallone is reportedly in negotiations for a deal that would mark his first major scripted role on the small screen. The series would be based on Mario Puzo’s novel, Omerta.

Published in 2000, a year after Puzo’s death, Omerta was the final in the well-known mob trilogy which began with The Godfather and followed up with The Last Don.

If negotiations are successful, Stallone will play the head of the mafia — a major role throughout the show.

However, there is currently no network officially attached to the ongoing project. Sources have revealed it will soon be pitched to various streaming and cable services prior to filming the pilot episode this summer.
