Cher turns 70, fans agree the singer is timeless

Cher, the legendary singer, entertainer and style icon, turned 70 on Friday. Many on social media have claimed she looks better every year and doesn’t need to Turn Back Time.

A top-selling recording artist, Cher is the only musical act to have no. 1 Billboard hits every decade from the 1960s to 2010s. Cher also took home an Academy for Best Actress in 1988 for her role in Moonstruck. Other acknowledgments include an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award in 2000, and three Golden Globe Awards.

In an interview with Abc News a few years back, she said “What I see more than anything else is when I’m on tour, I see people carrying children on their shoulders.” She continued, “And then, when we were in Vancouver Island, a woman on TV … it was her 90th birthday and she [said] she wanted to spend it at my concert. And I just thought, ‘You know, you go girl!”

While talking about her multi-generational fans, including a large base of loyal followers in the LGBT community, she said “I’m thankful, I’m blessed, but I don’t really understand it at all.”

Some of her most memorable performances include dancing with The Jackson 5 on The Cher Show and making a guest star appearance on Will & Grace, showing an obsessed Jack during the episode.

For many years, people have poked fun at the singer with a one-liner about the only things to survive a nuclear war being Cher and cockroaches. In a recent tweet, which repeated the one-liner, Cher simply stated, “And they’re not positive about the cockroaches!”
