Texas child molester given life in prison after infecting young victims with STDs

David Wilson, 33, who was recently convicted of sexually molesting several children and infecting them with sexually transmitted diseases, has been sentenced to life in prison by a Texas court.

One of the children was only 23 months old at the time of her assault, and contracted HIV, genital herpes and chlamydia. She was Wilson’s niece, and her genitals were so badly damaged from the abuse and the severity of the resulting infections that she had to have reconstructive surgery. Wilson was charged with the assault after the four people who lived in the child’s home were tested for STDs and only Wilson was positive for HIV.

The assault on the toddler occurred late last year. The child was staying with family members in Houston, including Wilson, due to her parents living out of state and having drug problems.

Another victim, 14 years old, told a Children’s Assessment Center caseworker she had been having sex with Wilson for more than two years and that she was pregnant. She was also found to have HIV, herpes and chlamydia. The girl was the daughter of Wilson’s ex-girlfriend.

Wilson had already served a four-year sentence for sexually molesting a child in 2005.

The jury in the current case took only an hour to pronounce Wilson guilty and decide on the life sentence.
