Have a pizza to celebrate “National Pi Day” and solve math problems to win 3.14 years worth of free pie

We all learned in school that pi is more one million digits long, starting with 3.14159265359, typically shorted to 3.14. Therefore, March 14 has become National Pi Day, and pizza joints around the country are celebrating with pizza specials including a deal at Pizza Hut that offers free pizza for 3.14 years for answering math problems. Difficult math problems.

To enter the Pizza Hut giveaway, go to their website and check out the puzzlers. They are hard. Really hard. For example, one question reads “I’m thinking of a 10-digit integer whose digits are all distinct. It happens that the number formed by the first n of them is divisible by n for each from 1 to 10. What is my number?” Wow. Maybe should have paid closer attention in algebra.

The Your Pie restaurant is offering deals for pizza at $3.14 off the regular price at participating restaurants. Other chains are also offering Pi Day deals. Whole Foods, obviously not just for pizza, has dessert pies on sale for $3.14 each.

Even Microsoft is getting in on the act, offering discounts of 31.4 percent off on the basic models Inspiron 13, Inspiron 15 and XPS 13 laptops.

Kitchen stores such as Kitchenworks have 15 percent discounts off pie related cookware, and Lulu.com has free shipping with the code PISHIP.

Its all in fun and Twitter is joining in with a platform full of fun memes and puzzles found at #PiDay or #PiDay2016.

Also, maybe not coincidentally, March 14 is Albert Einstein’s birthday.
