Melissa McCarthy to host Saturday Night Live, Kanye West to serve as musical guest

It has been a busy year for actress-comedian Melissa McCarthy. The 45-year-old is set to host NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) this Feb. 13, as recently announced on the show’s official Twitter page. She will also be accompanied by rapper Kanye West as musical guest.

Melissa McCarthy has evidently become an SNL sweetheart, having hosted the popular sitcom three other times since 2011. Her appearances have earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series three years in a row, with her last contribution dating back to February 2014.

Likewise, musician Kanye West has made an impact on SNL with several appearances, including the show’s 40th anniversary special in 2015. The 38-year-old artist performed songs such as Only One and Jesus Walks. West’s upcoming appearance will mark the sixth time he has been invited as musical guest.

The rapper has also been busy with other works, including his newest album, Waves, which releases on Feb. 11, only two days before his SNL appearance. While it is unknown which songs West will cover, his performance will serve as a means to promote his newest work. The artist was recently making headlines over the album’s sudden title change, having announced it as Swish before changing it to its current and final name.

Meanwhile, Melissa has also been on the spotlight due in part to her gradual 75-pound weight loss, accomplished through a mixture of interval training and a healthy diet.

Expect both stars this Feb. 13 at 11:30 p.m. ET, with Larry David serving as host on Feb. 6.
