New Google Glass could make its way to market

A more user friendly Google Glass is currently underway and expected to be released in the future, though no date has been set. Its future debut will only be available to companies through the “Glass for Work” program.

Businesses will have to load their own programs into the improved product. This new version will be known as the Enterprise Edition, according to arstechnica.com., and has newer internal features such as an Intel Atom processor. According to descriptions gathered from a short user manual posted by the FCC, its operating manual, arstechnia.com  says the newest version of Glass will also have an external battery pack.

Among the numerous features the newer version will have is a green light signaling that the device is recording. This will spell relief to its appearance in public since the older version left many uncertain when glass wearers were recording and invading others’ privacy.

It is not known when a consumer version of Google Glass will be released.  The last public mention of a consumer version was some time ago when Google announced that it had been reset and would be renamed “Project Aura”.

Much of what is known about the current version, Enterprise Edition has been learned from the FCC’s short manual post. Google has not made any official announcements about the Enterprise Edition, Project Aura or when they will be introduced to the marketplace.

What is known from the manual is that “the case looks smoother and rounder than the previous version of Google Glass and …..the ‘Glass’ part also seems to be completely independent of the glasses that hold it on your face.”
