Instagram boasts a reach of over 400 million

Instagram is making a name for itself in the burgeoning social media market and with a study released by the blog on the Instagram website, it has the numbers to prove it.

More than 400,000 members make up the sum total of Instagrammers worldwide. And of that 400 million more than 75% live outside the USA according to a Wired article published today.

That level of membership has contributed to the immense library of images shared worldwide. More than 80 million images and videos have been uploaded to the website, which on average gather 3.5 billion daily likes, have cultivated a culture of sharing which has seemed to break most boundaries of language and nationality.

Among its newest 100 million members to join, over half live in Europe and Asia. Celebrities such as David Beckham from the UK, Indonesia’s Raffi and Nagita, German soccer player Toni Kroos and South Korea’s T.O.P., who all possess an emphatic fanbase, share daily moments from their lives and fuel the social media site’s influence.

It also seems to be outpacing any other competitor in any related field. Against Twitter, which has 316 million monthly active users it faired better. Twitter has recently had troubles finding a permanent CEO and continued harassment issues between online users.

In a visual contest Instagram still outplays the scrapbooking site Pinterest which recently hit 100 million users.

The Facebook-owned company released the staggering today which are sure to be handy with Ad Week coming at the end of September.
