Can sleep affect women’s sexual desire?

A recent study reveals that sufficient sleep is vital for healthy sexual desire in females. The study was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Women who opt for an extra hour of sleep experience a 14% increase in their sexual response.

Women who experience problems in the bedroom should analysis whether they are getting enough sleep or not. If the answer is No, then they should seriously improve their sleeping habits.

The study was done on 171 women participants. They were required to complete surveys that asked them about their sleeping habits in fourteen consecutive days. The researchers concluded that the number of sleep hours that each participant experience on a given night and their level of sexual desire on the following day were related to each other. Women who slept well on a particular night experienced increased sexual desire the next day.

Sleep is considered vital for genital arousal. All those women who had good night sleep for longer hours reported fewer problems in respect of vaginal arousal compared to women who experienced sleep for a shorter period of time. The findings were independent of other factors including fatigue.

In the past, the impact of sleep on sexual arousal and desire has received little attention, but the latest results imply that insufficient sleep can have a negative impact on sexual desire and response in women. The study results assessed well-rested women during a course of time.

However, on any given night women who went to bed exhausted and tired ended up being sexually aroused the next day. Still, in that case, the lack of sleep resulted in reduced sexual desire and response. Here, the real message for women is not that more sleep is better, but it stated that it is vital to obtain a proper sleep that a human mind and body needs.
