Bristol Palin engaged to Medal Honor recipient and decorated Marine Dakota Meyer

Sarah Palin, a former Republican vice presidential candidate, is soon to be the mother of the bride after her 24-year-old eldest daughter, Bristol Palin, announced her engagement to former U.S. Marine and U.S. Medal of Honor Dakota Meyer.

The reality personality star wrote on her blog ‘Last night Sgt. Dakota Meyer proposed, and I said yes!’

Bristol shared on Instagram a picture of the happy couple smooching and a picture of the ring.

Palin 51 could not hide her joy of the news on a Facebook posting writing ‘Our families couldn’t be happier for Bristol and Dakota’ reiterating he is a good man who loves Bristol and Tripp. Tripp is Bristol and Levi Johnston, six-year-old son. The couple met in Alaska during the filming of an episode for Amazing America.

Meyer popped the question at the Rascal Flatts Concert on March 13 with the band dedicating their hit song ‘Bless This Broken Road’ to the newly engaged couple. On an Instagram posting the overjoyed Bristol wrote ‘Truly the luckiest girl in the world cannot wait to marry this man’. Meyer is a nation hero having received the nation’s top military honor on rescuing 36 pinned-down comrades and Civilians during 2009 ambush in Afghanistan.

Meyer is a Kentucky native and an a author of a series of memoir released in 2012 titled ‘into the fire ’ a firsthand account of some of the most extraordinary battles in the fight against terrorism in the Afghan war. Meyer is the third living recipient of the award and the first marine to have walked away with the top accolade.

Bristol has stayed in the public eye since her mother failed on her vice presidential push having made appearances on Dancing with the stars and on a reality show of raising her son Trip. In 2011, she released the bestselling memoir ‘Not afraid of life: My Journey So Far’ and was previously engaged to the father of his son.
