Samsung announces browser edition of Milk Music streaming service

On the occasion of the first anniversary of Milk Music streaming radio service, Samsung announced the service to be freely available to people for streaming through web browsers.  To use the music streaming service, users need to register themselves by creating a Samsung account.

The service is not entirely free and has some conditions upon free usage, which include that the user can only skip maximum of 6 songs at a time. To avail the premium features, users also have the option to get a premium membership at just $4. The Samsung Milk has about 13 million tracks in its collection.

Earlier, the Samsung Milk radio streaming service could only be accessed by Samsung devices like smartphones, tablet PCs, smart TVs and smart watches.

The quality of the tracks that Samsung Milk offers is 128 kbps while their rivals like Google Play Music, Rdio, Spotify, Gaana, and Saavn have the streaming option of 320 kbps quality. The users have with them, the option to select from up to 9 radio stations and listen to their favorite tracks from 17 genres.

The online web browser based Music Streaming service will be powered by the same Slacker Internet radio service, which had always been with the Milk Music earlier.

The premium users of Milk Music will have the option to remove all ads completely, and also be able to skip as many tracks as they like.  The step taken by Samsung to provide the streaming radio service for free is due to the fact that it wasn’t much popular among the customers, and who wants to pay when there already are better services to use for free.

Samsung hopes to attract more new users and create a buzz among them with this free service, now it’s for users to switch from their existing radio streaming service.
