Sprint plans to release LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop on February 16, G2 Update still in the Air

Android 5.0 Lollipop is the next biggest update Google has released for its popular mobile operating system. LG Electronics is one of the first companies to beginning sending out updates to its line of devices, but G3 users in the United States are still waiting on the sidelines.

However, the wait might be coming to an end due to a recent report from Sprint. According to the network, Android 5.0 Lollipop for the LG G3, could be released on February 16, which is not far away. We should point out that the set date is subject to change should Sprint believe it is not in its best interest.

While Sprint has come out with an actual possible release date, we can’t say the same for other carriers in the United States. It is possible that should Sprint move forward with plans to release the update for the LG G3; other carriers might follow and then everyone will be happy.

Verizon customers are in a better position since the carrier is known for releasing updates speedily over the past couple of years. The same cannot be said when it comes down AT&T and T-Mobile.

Back in 2014, LG Electronics was the first of all the Android manufacturers to release the update, so it makes sense the company is still doing better when compared to the other manufacturers.

Apart from the G3, the G2 is another device that is still waiting to be graced by Lollipop. It is not yet certain when LG will make the update available, but those who are unable to wait and get it right now via the XDA developers. It is based on the CyanogenMod 12 ROM, which means some aspects might not be stable enough.

Going this route is only for those who know what they are doing. If you are not such a person, leave it alone and wait for LG’s official release.
