The biggest names in film, music and TV gathered in Los Angeles on Wednesday for the People’s Choice Awards of 2015. The winners of these awards are completely selected by the fans.
The show was kicked off by hosts Allison Janney and Anna Faris with a taped sketch featuring Chris Pratt, Faris’ husband.
Melissa McCarthy was the first one to win an award that night for favourite actress in a comedic role. She accepted the award by thanking all of her fans.
When Betty White later came on stage to accept the award for favourite TV icon, she did refer to McCarthy’s speech. She bet Tom Selleck, Tim Allen, Mark Harmon and Katey Sagal.
The award for favourite actor in a comedic role went to Adam Sandler who also went on to thank his fans for being honoured with the award.
Chris Evans, actor of Captain America, managed to bag the award for the favourite actor in an action movie. Another winner for the night was Ellen DeGeneres.
Although “White Collar” went off screen by the end of the year 2014, actor Matt Bomer from the show was voted the favourite actor on cable TV. Check out the complete winners list here.
It wasn’t just TV or movies, music was recognized as well. Rapper Iggy Azalea won the award for the favourite artist in the hip – hop category.
Several movies and TV shows like “Scorpion”, “True Detective”, “Game of Thrones”, Guardians of the Galaxy” and many more were up for honours.
Almost all the big names from the entire industry were in attendance at this 41st year of the People’s Choice Awards.
