Apple iPhone 6 prices to pierce Rs 50K in India

Apple fanboys in India can heave a sigh of relief as the latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus would arrive in their midst by mid-October. All eyes have been on what Apple would writeon the price tags when the devices travel to India.

As we all know, the iPhone 6  16 GB model sports a tag of $649 in the US. For the higher 32 GB and 128 GB versions, the prices too take a steep hike with. Meanwhile, the bigger display iPhone 6 Plus has also been labeled with the contract free price tag starting at $749.

With these pricing details in mind, we need to assume that the pricing in India would be in the range of 40,000-60,000 INR. The low-end 16 GB iPhone would cost around INR 40,000 while the high end 128 GB version of the iPhone 6 Plus would quote over INR 60K. But these pricing are just based on the current exchange rates. Add taxes to these devices, and we might see the price tags to read a bit more.

For instance, we saw the iPhone 5S being launched at $649 which when came to the Indian markets tallied at Rs 53,500. But it’s not possible to predict what Apple would be having in mind for its global models.

It is likely that the company might consider the prices of Motorola, Asus and Xiaomi models before deciding on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus prices.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the new devices have begun appearing on online e-commerce platform eBay in just a couple of days since launch. Sellers on eBay have started making available the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which are to be shipped in from Singapore and Australia by September 21, for staggering price levels of beyond INR One lakh. Does that look real?
