Bangladesh vs West Indies 2014 live: Chris Gayle to miss 2nd Test

West Indies opener Chris Gayle would be missing the second Test match against Bangladesh. The ruling out of Gayle was confirmed by the West Indies Cricket Board with the 13 men squad revealed ahead of the final Test match, which begins tomorrow.

Chris Gayle himself had opted out of the second Test. The board has said that Gayle will not play the match owing to certain personal engagements.

The left handed opener accumulated 64 runs in the first innings of the opening Test followed by the 9 (not out) and sealed a ten wicket victory against the visiting squad.

He also bagged the wicket of Bangladeshi middle order batsman Imrul Kayes in the course of his 17 over spell in the second innings. Previously, the 34 year old has scored only 67 runs from his three matches in the ODI series.

The omission of Gayle would open up a chance for Leon Johnson, who looks forward to making his Test debut. The 27-year-old left hander was listed in the 13 men squad alongside Shane Shillingford and Jason Holder who failed to find their names in the final eleven.

With West Indies leading the two match series 1-0, the second match will be played at the Beausejour Stadium at Gros Islet, St Lucia from tomorrow.

While the Windies would be looking for a clean sweep in the Test series, Bangladesh would be eyeing to restore some pride by looking to perform better. For Bangladesh, a win or even a draw would mean a lot.
