Watch India vs England 5th ODI Highlights Video

After having won the series, India lost the 5th and final ODI after failing to chase a target of 295 set by England on Sept 5, 2014

On the start of the day, skipper Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first. In terms of changes, Umesh Yadav was called in to replace Dhawal Kulkarni for India.

Final scores: England 294/7 v India 253 (48.4/50 ov)

The hosts started off the first over quite well with 10 runs coming off it. However, within the 4th over, Umesh Yadav got Alex Hales. England’s decision to promote Moeen Ali didn’t help either as he left with just 9 runs in the 7th over.

The main for the hosts was Joe Root, who took no time to settle in and made that extensive figure of 113 runs off 108 balls, continuing till the 46th over. The same didn’t hold true with any of the other players, who struggled for double digits.

Skipper Cook seemed to be in shape, but his 46 came off 77 balls before he was taken by Dhoni on Raina’s ball. Jos Buttler did give some help to Root.

While India did well to limit the hosts, they lost their last match’s star player Ajinkya Rahane to James Anderson right in the 1st over.

Soon to go was Kohli, who’s dry spell of runs didn’t seem to end. At the thirteenth over, Moeen Ali bowled Shikhar Dhawan.

At the time of writing, India was at 56 at the loss of 3 wickets at the end of 16th over.
