WhatsApp set to launch free voice calls like Skype?

If the media speculated reports are to be believed, giant messaging app WhatsApp may soon launch a calling feature.

There have no confirmations on the matter from either Facebook or WhatsApp for the news, but the buzz of the reports suggests something similar should be soon up.

A report on Trak.in mentions that the leaked user interface images from a tech blog suggests that a voice calling feature may soon be introduced formally. The images also showed that calling option will also have support for video calls via 3G and WiFi.

The leaked WhatsApp Screenshot also shows other language option added, which also suggests the introduction of voice calls.

Media reports also suggest that the growth of WhatsApp has been quite healthy, ever since Facebook bought the messaging app for whopping $19 billion. Although many believed that Facebook may just bring down the app to keep it’s messaging service on the top, the same didn’t happen.

In fact, WhatsApp has more than 600 million users as of July 2014. Around 700 million+ photos are shared on the app every day, suggesting that it is here to stay. If WhatsApp brings in a voice calling option, it will only push their reach to the masses, something that Facebook is looking at.

An official announcement is awaited from Facebook and Whatsapp, but if the voice calling option is added, the messaging app will keep a strong hold of being the best choice in its segment, especially with YouChat and other services catching up.
