Internet de-addiction centres open in many cities in India

Once e-commerce companies became the biggest selling idea on the internet and now it is Internet De-Addiction centers. Huge companies are seeing this as an excellent opportunity to turn the internet market in India.

Bangalore got its very first De-Addiction center in June this fall which also happens to be the first center in India. This is followed by Delhi and hopefully if things go well, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad will soon get their own centers to treat ‘web junkies’ and help them ‘log-out’.

India is suffering with something which is known as Internet Addiction Disorder, this is quite prevalent in the US and now India is also showing signs of joining the league. Compulsive internet usage has been described as a psychological disorder and these De-Addiction centers are just the solution needed.

The first center of India in Bangalore is ironically located just 12 kms from the IT hub of the metro city. Many people are worried if there is a need of such centers while some very enthusiastic users are actually excited with the development.

As per a study conducted by NIMHANS, 73% of teenagers in urban India are affected by “psychiatric distress”, and overuse of technology has been cited as one of the reasons.

There is no doubt about the fact that there are web addicts all around us. Such people generally tend to become antisocial and it is very important to give them the right treatment at the right time.

These centers can serve the purpose of converting web addicts to web users.
