‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ total worldwide box-office collection report

“Guardians of the Galaxy” has broken the seven year old record held by “Bourne Ultimatum” ($69.2M) for the best August opener. The movie which was released on August 1, 2014 in the US, has made $94M till Sunday, August 3, 2014.

It has been the third highest opening this year with “Transformers” and “Captain America” taking the lead.  





The Disney has had a splendid 2014 with some of the most extraordinary movies adding to its bag. The movie destroyed IMAX records as well. Check the complete box-office stats here.



Though the movie is a joint effort of a number of artists and technicians, the unsung hero of the film is Alan Fine. He heads the Marvel’s creative committee and is largely responsible for taking up  such a risk and fulfilling it with flying colors.

It was his daring act that has worked for both, Marvel and Disney. He is well-respected and well-versed in and clearly understands the merchandising and licensing business so a sage marketer that has helped launch so many of the Marvel films.



The 3D film has worked in favour of the industry. To be released in India on August 8, 2014, the fans in the subcontinent are also anxiously waiting for the film.

The movie has also become a huge beneficiary for some of the famous movie theaters who are making large volumes of dollars out of the movie.

Guardians becomes its highest August opener ever with an $11.6M gross, far outpacing last year’s Elysium ($4.6M).



With alien bandits Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Groot to form an alliance of misfits the movie is already a big hit worldwide and is expected to do well in India as well.
