BlackBerry Passport Poaching iPhone and Android Users? BB Says So

The official BlackBerry blog has been updated with a list of 12 customers who have apparently ditched their Android and Apple devices in favor of the new Passport – the squarest Smartphone released to date.

The exodus from BlackBerry to Smartphones to those running Android and iOS was as colossal as it was rapid. As for the likelihood of a reversal, you’d be better of banking on the iPhone 6 running Samsung’s DIY Tizen operating system.

However, if the folks in Waterloo are to be believed then there are at least signs of newfound faith in the quite desperately wounded BlackBerry of today. Not to such an extent as to worry Apple or Google, but BlackBerry has boldly stated that its newest device is to a notable extent convincing Android and iPhone users to jump ship.

And considering the fact that the device we’re talking about is the decidedly weird BlackBerry Passport, this is no small claim to make.

Basically, BlackBerry has been scouring the web for nice comment and feedback about its super-square new addition in order to bring them to the attention of the rest of us. Take for example one Hassam Mirzai, who reportedly found the Passport vastly superior to his Samsung device.

“The phone is small enough to carry in my pocket and large enough to read text comfortably. I currently have a Samsung Note II,” he wrote.

“When I bought my Note II, it looked weird too. After 2 or 3 days I got used to it. I will replace my Note II with the Blackberry Passport.”

And according to patbjackson who shared his thoughts via Android Central, BlackBerry really is shining through as a worthy rival to the market’s leaders.

“I want it. Just because it’s different, and I like the screen and keyboard. I miss Blackberry [and] I’m a huge emailer, and android and iOS just don’t do it for me. I’m all about communication and neither platform is doing the job right.”

We’ll let you decide how convincing it all is….
